By Shubh Datta The biggest US auto-parts retailer, AutoZone, reported strong third-quarter earnings this week, with a 12% year-over-year rise in profits that trampled Wall Street's estimates. Shares jumped to a 52-week high on the news.

AutoZone Inc. (NYSE:AZO) said its third-quarter profit rose to $227.4 million, or $5.29 a share, from $202.7 million, or $4.12 a share, in the year-ago period. Sales rose to $1.98 billion from $1.82 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research were.

Construction began this week on the old Schuck's Auto Parts store in the parking lot of the lower Totem Lake Mall. Schuck's has moved to the opposite side of the lower mall and changed its name to O'Rielly Auto Parts. A sign on the front of the construction site said that the renovated building will house an AutoZone Auto Parts store.
